We’re Hiring: Shift Lead Interpreter

We are looking for a BSL Interpreter to join our SignLive team on a full time or part-time basis as a Shift Supervisor. This is an important new position in our growing interpreter team.

Working with the Interpreter Success Manager to improve the quality of life for all Deaf people by providing the highest quality, cutting edge solutions in visual communications. You will be part of the team to develop and support our colleagues on shift, the go-to person for all interpreting queries, support requests, and technical support connecting our interpreting colleagues to the appropriate support in SignLive.

Duties And Responsibilities
● Lead, motivate and support interpreting colleagues on shift, whilst working as an interpreter within the team
● Act as a role model to others and maintain SignLive’s provision of high-quality customer service through both VRI and VRS video interpreting calls
● Assist with and take over, if necessary, complex customer queries or
complaints
● Monitor random calls to improve quality, minimise errors, and track operative performance
● Ensure compliance with registration bodies code of conduct and internal
company policies and procedures
● Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure services and systems are maintained as well as contributing to continuous improvement programmes
● Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and involvement in networks
● Assist Interpreter Success Manager with shift reviews and organisation,
recruitment and recording performance measurements statistics and assist in the training and development of new and existing interpreters

Essential skills/qualifications/experience
● NRCPD/RBSLI/SASLI registration
● RSLI status
● Enhanced DBS
● 3 years post qualification experience
● Experience of working for a video interpreting provider
● Supervisory/ management experience would be advantageous

The successful candidate will be:
● Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
● A good communicator, with the ability to present information, both written and verbal effectively
● Confident and comfortable managing a team remotely
● A naturally positive, enthusiastic person with the ability to persevere and
achieve goals
● Able to work quickly, flexibly, and effectively meeting deadlines and targets, remaining calm and focussed under pressure
● Adaptable and comfortable juggling a range of tasks in a fast-moving
environment
● Possess the ability to prioritise and organise own workload in an effective
and accurate manner, whilst working within broad guidelines
● Willing to undertake training needed to fulfil the changing requirements of the job

Salary: £45-55,000 Dependent on experience
