SignLive is pleased to share some exciting news: We have entered into a partnership with Convo Communications, and SignLive is now a part of Convo Global. The SignLive + Convo partnership acquisition is a one-of-a-kind, historic achievement.

Since this partnership was established we’ve been excited to share this news with you, and we apologize to anyone who felt this announcement did not come fast enough. We chose to hold sharing this news, so we could have some time to get to know each other, our teams, our cultures, and now we are ready to make an announcement. We are committed to keeping the community informed of any new information and you remain at the centre of what we do. Convo and SignLive have always been committed to investing in the Deaf Community and our expansion is just one more step forward in strengthening the Deaf Community on a global scale.

Who is Convo and what do they do?

Wayne Betts Jr. (Co-founder of Convo):

Hello, I’m Wayne and I’m one of the founders of Convo.

Convo has provided interpreting services through the use of technology on a variety of devices in the U.S. and Canada. We are also one of the largest Deaf-owned and Deaf-operated businesses globally. We’re excited, and we’ve been watching SignLive and their growth. With their philosophy and beliefs, we’ve noticed aligned and similar paths between Convo and SignLive.

Convo, like SignLive, believes in drawing from the authentic experiences of Deaf and signers to naturally integrate language and culture through communication technology and partnering with interpreters. In this way, we can give you a better service experience that closely aligns with who you are.

With this partnership acquisition, Convo established Convo Global, a new international business division, and will partner with SignLive to expand communication access with a new technology platform—as well as working closely with the interpreting community. This will allow us to easily scale our interpreting services. It is important to us that we stay true to your languages, cultures, and experiences as we work behind the scenes to support communication technology and grow globally.

Wayne Betts Jr. who is Convo’s Co-Founder and he is Deaf from the United States and Braam Jordaan, Convo Global CEO.

We’ve shared many conversations about our companies and the similar views and values we hold. Convo is also impressed with the quality and standard of the service we offer and it became clear that a partnership between SignLive and Convo brings together two extremely successful Deaf-owned organisations and further strengthens our position in the video interpreting market. This also strengthens SignLive’s mission in providing the highest-quality choice for accessible communication to the Deaf Community and preserves our unique value of being the only Deaf-owned video interpreting provider in the UK.

How will this partnership acquisition change SignLive, what’s the future plan?

Hello, my name is Braam and I am CEO for Convo Global. I am from South Africa.

The SignLive team is not changing. All staff has been retained, and the operational management of SignLive’s business will remain UK-based. Joel is still part-owner and will continue as Director and Chief Executive Officer of SignLive. He and I will work closely to scale our service and benefits for our customers, the Deaf community, and interpreters across the UK.

Our immediate focus is on expanding SignLive’s leadership team to support our future growth and enhance our technology, so SignLive is at the forefront of technological advances in accessible communications and video interpreting. Starting with our new app scheduled for release in the coming months, this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter of SignLive and Convo working closely together.
